I'm not seeking medical advice, but I was wondering if anyone else had had an oral bone graft operation and if this had caused problems.
Mine is scheduled for next week (to bulk up the jaw bone in preparation for a dental implant) and my oral surgeon warned that the potential complications from taking a "donation" from elsewhere in the jaw are loss of sensation and/or embouchure control. He also said that younger patients (I just turned 62) tend to have this problem less frequently.

I've had that procedure. For me it was to provide for two teeth (#9 and 10 if you know your dental numbers) after they were knocked out in a bicycle crash.
The donation site was the point of my jaw.
Long term there have been no complications. Though I now have a more prominent chin.
Short term ... ugh. Swelling, pain, liquid diet. I expect you'll not be able to play for at least 10 to 14 days. Due to a couple of complications it was over a year between knocking my teeth out and having the implants fully installed.
Upside though, implants are wonderful. If I were to crack teeth again for whatever reason I wouldn't hesitate about getting implant replacements.
