Just bought the CD of the concerto today. It was by first chance to hear this work as I was working when it was premiered in London. Well what do I say, what an amazing work. So full of contrasts, great orchestration and a hell of a solo part. I think there is a super G in there before the cadenza. I have to say that it has inspired me just like the Corigliano did when I first heard Drucker's recording.
I can't wait to get my fingers round that one. I thought Kari Kriikku did an amazing job with it (I realise it was written for him). It surprised me, I have his Mozart Concerto alongside a couple of the Molter Concertos. He didn't fair so well here for me. Wasn't a great fan of his Mozart and the Molter renditions where not quite thought through, especially the unprepared cadenza before the final chord in the final movt of No. 4 ( i think, can't quite remember without finding it and listening).
Has he performed this work in the States, and what were your impressions on the first hearing.

I only heared the intro in the car and then unfortunately had to leave. Kari Kriikku performed this life in Brussel during a 'Finish week' in Belgium.
Since then I'm trying to get my hands on a recording (not a score, because this goes way above my skills)
PS. for those of you googling around, Peter made a typo it's actually Magnus Lindberg

Apologies for the typo. The recording in distributed by Ondine. It is very recent and was recorded in 05, though the concerto was recorded in 03. The others on the disk are 05.

Amazing piece, and Kriikku kicks butt on it, too.
