Help! My wind ensemble is playing Ron Nelson's Lauds right now, and there's a tremolo that for the life of me, I cannot figure it out. I've taken it to my private instructor, but she doesn't know how to do it either. It's altissimo G# to altissimo E. I know it can be done, I've heard recordings of the piece. I just haven't been able to figure out how. Any help would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

For the G#6 use:
TR o o o / x o o [Eb/Ab]
Then tremolo down to E6, by using an alternate E6 fingering:
TR + A key o x x / x o [fork key] o [Eb/Ab]

My high school commissioned Lauds...I didn't play it but I do have the premiere recording of the piece. It 's a fine composition. Good luck.

I'm under the impression that Ron likes to challenge clarinetists with difficult trills and tremolos......

--And just to put things in perspective, that gratis tremolo fingering could easily cost any of us from $80-100 in a lesson with a top-name, symphony player or touring soloist/recording artist. Generally, a local teacher charging less per hour (unless he studied with the best) doesn't possess that deep a knowledge base or as technically intimate on their horn to know it. v/r Ken
