I just bought a new R-13 for my daugter who is soon to be 13. She loves playing. I have 2 questions: 1] It came in a beautiful case, however there were no instructions (cleaning, taking care of etc) and nothing official from the company, warrantee or anything. I find it hard to believe spending all this money and nothing comes with it. Any help would be appreciated.
2] I have tried to find a web site for Buffet, I guess in France. Does anyone know how to contact the actaul manufacturer. Thanks.

Here is the web site. Hopefully someone else can tell you how to make contact.

The clarinet should come with a warranty card (both of mine did). As for proper care and maintenance: I think it's assumed that if you're buying an R-13, you know what you're doing, or at least have a teacher that can demonstrate.

Interesting comment considering that even a $20,000 auto comes with owners manual.....

If you bought the instrument from an individual, it may not be actually new. He/she may have bought it and resold it. You need to contact your seller and get the facts. If you bought it from a retailer, go back and ask for the paperwork. If they tell you it was a demo model or was on the shelf and they've lost the paperwork, ask them to get papers for you. Each instrument comes from the factory with the serial number on a warranty card that is unique to the instrument. When it's been lost before selling the instrument it makes it a bit more difficult, but the retailer can and should take personal responsibility for providing warranty care for the instrument. Hold onto your receipt.
For care instructions, do a search here on the bboard for care of wood clarinets.

Star1,
In 1988 my Selmer Recital didn't come with a manual either, but there was a warranty registration card.
IMO a smart manufacturer would include as much information as possible to help a purchaser; it's just common sense.
There appears to be a shortage of that among some clarinet manufacturers; e.g., elsewhere on this BB is a post about LeBlanc refusing to help out a clarinet player who needs a replacement screw. IMO it's hard to beat that for stupidity, when thousands of people read this BB every day.
Regards,
Hans

I bought a Buffet E11 A clarinet in January 2004 and it came with warranty card and a user manual telling me how to assemble and take care of the insturment. It even has a miniature fingering chat in the case.
A week a ago, I bought a new R13 and it only had a warrnaty card in the box. I couldn't find any instruction manual and fingering chart. I think Buffet has assumed anyone who bought a R13 should know how to take care of it

When I got my R-13 it came with the warranty card.
The other care and feeding stuff was provided by the store and were not a part of the package. I think it was just a printout off the web. They just provided it as a little extra service for buying it there.
