 Klezmer on a Bass Clarinet?

Would the tonal quality and structure of a Bass Clarinet rule out it's being used to play Klezmer music. I guess what I am asking is whether Klezmer is more or less "restricted" to those fast fingered youngsters who never heard of arthritis or play anything below the third register.
