I just watched a movie on NetFlix that I had not seen when it was current in the (probably) 70's: "Quigley Down Under". An entertaining spaghetti western set in Australia.
I enjoyed the movie, but was stunned by the oboe/EH player in the sound track. (I assume from the playing style that is was the same player). Absolutely gorgeous playing at all the poignant moments. I lost track of the plot listening to the player.
The credits were to the 'Studio Symphony Orchestra". My guess is it was a Hollywood studio band but I have no further information. If anyone knows more than I do, please weigh in.
I'm thinking David Weiss might have some insights, but I don't have his contact information.
Any ideas?
