Hello there.
I was just reading a reply you did about oboe reeds. I am an oboe player and have been playing for the past 10 years. I have been making my own reeds for the past 4 years. I was just wondering if you were still having problems with your reeds? Maybe I can be of assistence in helping you avoid from ruining your reeds. There are some simple measures to take when making reeds to assure they won't crack down the middle - but sometimes they just do because of either the type of cane or how the cane twisted slightly etc. There are many precautions as well. I am not sure where you are from, but I am sure that there is someway to help you make your own reeds. I also have a lot of sources that you could either buy or borrow from a local library on making reeds. There are some that I wouldn't suggest just because of contradicting methods. I study with James Mason, Canada's leading oboist, and he is the "guru oboe reed master". I am currently in University studying oboe in performance, and I have to make my own reeds. There is no way to buy them...
Anyway, please reply when you can.
