 loose sides

I've been experimenting with different tubes, like Sierra, Loree AK and Rigotti and habe been having an issue with loose sides. If I use Pisoni, Jeanne and even Glotin the sides are nice and tightl and when you set the overlap there is that comforting "click", which never happens with the other tubes.
I am starting to think that the gouge is too think on the side; there is a six point spread between the center and the sides. Since the Sierra, Loree Ak and Rigotti tubes have such a narrow throat, if you pull the thread too tight you crack the cane and you mishape the blades and then the openings are out of whack as well.
I don't want to give up on these tubes because the reeds that were successful tend to be dynamite.
I am wondering if anyone else has been having this problem with these types of tubes.
