Hello. I absolutely can't find an information in the net regarding my F.E.Olds "Special" wooden bass clarinet. Could you please tell me the "history" of it and the year it was produced. It is written "France 3478" (serial number?). Thanks in advance for any help! I can send photos if needed.

I used to own an FE Olds bass clarinet. Not a bad horn, but I found the intonation troublesome and struggled with anything on the higher end of the range. It was the lack of the register extension on the neck that was the culprit in both cases.
I agree with JDBassplayer that this is a Malerne-produced instrument. Malerne stenciled many of the bass clarinets in the mid-late 20th century, and the keywork bears a distinctive look.
