I'm an Adult Learner, learning on my own.
Ive got a quick question.
I'm playing a piece that has a series of 16th notes of A going to B and back and forth on the staff
Here to fore the only B fingering Ive used has been the first one shown of 4 on the fingering chart with all the main holes covered. Using this fingering and going back and forth to A seems pretty difficult to do rapidly.
The forth fingering position I have in my chart uses just the top 2 front and back keys as well as the second little trill key.
My question is this the fingering I should be using to execute this note change?

I play the a with my left pointer finger as I normally would then use the top key of the four side keys for the b (which I play with my right pointer finger). Now that I've learned that trick, I actually use it quite often!

Another excellent way of going from throat A to B over the break is when you play the B, nudge open the throat A key with your left index finger (which will still give you the B) and then for A, lift your right hand index finger and then close it again for the B, so you're effectively using a trill fingering but without using the trill key as mentioned above (which is also a very useful fingering).
So the fingering for B is: Sp. Th. A xxx|xxx E/B
and throat A fingering is: Sp. Th. A xxx|oxx E/B

A quick story: A bunch of us were doing a master class for Larry Combs using the Rose 40 Studies #21 (first one in second book). There is a grace note "B" going to the "A." As a "throw away" note we just used the sidekey. Mr. Combs was very adament about us using the LONG "B" fingering for this grace note. We then used the LONG "B" for that grace note.
You can leave the right hand down completely, leave the "B" key down (either side) and the RH third finger down and trill pretty quickly between the "A" and "B".......with a little practice.
Point being, the sidekey "B" lacks any resonance (really short tube note) so use the Long "B" for all but the fastest trills.
