I'm trying to find some bass clarinet doo-dads such as lapel pins, mugs, etc. but I've had absolutely no luck finding such a thing. I've already looked through The Friendship House catalog and The Music Stand. Does anyone out there have any more ideas or should I just give up ??? Thanks for your help !!

I have seen brass bass clarinet Christmas tree ornaments in Music Stand catalogs. Of course, this is probably only in the catalogs that come out before Christmas.

I have a very large bass clarinet trinket I bought at a music store. It's so large, it appears to be full size. I even tried playing it at orchestra rehearsal, and it actually sounded a lot like a real bass clarinet! Unfortunately, it was rather expensive, so you probably wouldn't want to buy one. It cost me over $800! It says "Vito Reso-tone" on it. It's mostly black, with some shiny metal parts on the top and bottom.

My husband gave me a bass clarinet pendant, about five years ago. It has a hanging loop for wearing on a chain as a necklace, or it could hang on a keychain. Music stores sell this pendant. The keys on the bass look sort of ... approximate, something I've noticed on other clarinet-themed jewelry.

I used to have a bass clarinet pencil sharpener. The business end of the thing was underneath the bell end of the horn. The person who got it for me thought it was a saxophone.

There was a company called Future Primitive who made various instrument pins and jewellery whih were well detailed - not sure if they're still around.

People browse through old strings all the time. I get messages responding to things I wrote back in the Sneezy days. It's easy to forget that you're looking at a string from (in this case) 1999. That's why Mark went from an older date-based BBS to a thread-based one with Sneezy.
If an old link is dead, and someone wants current information, the string can be revived with a mouse click. The point is that Alec Thigpen wanted a trinket now and asked in this string rather than posting a fresh query.
I love it when this happens. It keeps things together. That's the genius of strings. When I come across an interesting YouTube video, I add it to the invaluable string that David Blumberg began in 2008, http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=367231&t=266544. I wish everyone did.
