dark clarinet music

Are there any solo or chamber clarinet pieces that sound dark, sinister, evil, and angry? Did Mahler do anything for the clarinet repertoire? It seems like a lot of clarinet music is happy, or sad and in-between. Can the clarinet perform music that is so dark that it is beautiful?

To answer your question, the clarinet can perform music that is so dark, that it is beautiful.

The second movement of "Time Pieces" (II. Andante Espressivo) by Robert Muczynski always comes to mind.
