Does anyone have any experience with Gator GL cases? I am curious as to how they compare in quality, features and size to the Protec cases. The local music store does not carry much stock so whatever I buy will be sight unseen over the internet or mail order.

I have a Gator case-gig case- for my tenor sax. they are very similar to the protec gig cases. i really like it. there are outside pockets, and the horn fit nicely. Protecs are very affordable, but this one was an even better value. overall, I am pretty satisfied. the sax was in bad need for a new case anyway. it is one of the "lightweight" models.

If you don't mind a fair sized case, try MCF Airway - they are quite exceptional, hold pots of stuff, are totally bulletproof, and have a lovely fabric inside. They are marketed very badly, distribution is limited, and are therefore a very well kept secret. There's a web site in Canada that sells them, if you search for MCF airway clarinet on Google. I got mine from Myatt's in the UK.

I use a Gator case that is just great. My clarinets fit very well and it seems to be just as good as my proTec cases only it costs about half as much. As a matter of fact, my clarinets fit better in the Gator than they do in the ProTec. I found that it had too many long zipper pulls so I removed a few but other than that I think it is a case that has alot of room on the outside and protects my clarinet very well.
