I have a problem with that D that is overblown G. I've been playing for five years or so. There's a piece where I have to move very quickly from the G right above the staff, the B above that, then the D and down to an F, before repeating. Since I couldn't finger fast enough to pull it off with normal fingerings, the conductor told me to overblow an open G.
However, it sounds absolutely horrid. It's the worst sound that's come out of my clarinet in years. Is there something different I need to do with my embouchure to get the note to sound decent?
