I`ve been playing a plateau clarinet for quite a while and it has been effortlessly, easy. Notes flow smoothly and without a squeek. I thought though that I should join the masses and see how much progress I can make in the time available on the std. clarinet.
The clarinet I`m trying on is only a student`s cheapie (although a new one) and all notes play OK except the mid stave line B. It needs a lot more air pressure and finger accuracy. Because I hav`n`t experienced this with the plateau I`m posting to find out if this is common and if it is not suggestions on where I might look to check for an equipment fault. I`ve looked as closely as I can for poor seating of the pad that is closed when B is played using the left hand little finger. Seems OK.
