Hello- I am new to music and I have just started teaching myself to play the recorder, and I have a few questions about the fingering chart.

1- I notice the fingering chart I have shows F, then just below it, E. There is no f flat on the chart. Why not?

2- Also, on the fingering chart, g flat is in paratheses. No other note on the chart is. Why?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The book I am using is: "Enjoy Your Recorder. The Trapp Family Singers' New complete method of Instruction for the Recorder."
