Dear Nicholas,

Harmonics are notes achieved by fingering lower notes and opening the octave key, craeting a higher note.. Try fingering a low Bb and putting on the Octave key, you should get a quite F' in response.

What you need to do is have a look at the and Try the difference. Nearly ALL german players have auto octaves, only a few in Australia though. For example the Ass. Principal in the Melbourne SYmphony plays Auto Octaves, as she was training at the Berlin Philharmonic Acadmey.

I have an Auto Marigaux for sale at he moment in Melbourne.. have a look at www.smreeds.com, and/or just come over and try it. There was also an Auto ocatves Buffet Student model at Billy Hydes in Cabterbury Road....
