 Buying - Finding Recorded Music
Author: JRC

Tower Record went out of business.
Bookstores with CD music section are shrinking.
Amazon and iTune stores appear to be the ones left standing.
Capturing music streaming is another way to getting recorded music.

Some radio programs gives CD reviews. Some newspaper critics prints CD reviews. Where are we (music listeners) going to get the recorded music and choose wisely? I heard some insight in a radio discussion. Are we holding on to the tail of a dying culture?

I am not sure where we are headed with the little CD disks but I won't surprised if both CDs and printed books mostly go by the wayside in favor of digital distribution. I will not be entirely happy about it, and will lament the loss of the book in my hand, I think more than the CD in my basement.

My group is finishing a recording and we've decided to go mainly digital to try that out. The one reason we discussed for doing a small run of CDs was for merchandise sales at concerts, but we've come across a neat way to have something people can walk away with without producing the CDs.

They are digital gift cards for our web-site and allow digital retrieval using the printed key info.

Then, and this part is neat I think, they are bio-degradable paper and contain wild flower seeds.... so you plant it and it grows something.

I was a long holdout wanting CDs for full-quality listening, but the newer HQ MP3s sound great anyway and I usually listen on my iPod Vs. my home theatre speakers.

I retired from IT and Sales Reporting Management from a print distribution business, and they are really hurting in the core products, have been through bankruptcy, and are scrambling to establish a digital business to replace the print one before its too late.
