Hi Bobo
Mr Izotov definitely has a formidable technique! His Cadenzas manage to be both very virtuosic and very polished at the same time. No mean feat! I'd be interested, one day, to hear his version of the Strauss oboe concerto. I think his warm tone could be very well suited to it. James

I am listening to the performance now. The 1st and 2nd mov. cadenzas are actually by Holliger, with very minor additions (the gruppetto in the 2nd mov. cadenza) by Izotov. I have always marvelled at the quality of composition by Holliger (baroque ornamentation and classical cadenza). I wish he didn't write in such a modern style for his own compositions. I had not heard the 3rd mov. cadenza before, it could be by Izotov.
