ok, i sent them an email asking how to obtain a copy of the original manuscript...what the hey!
another fun one (ok, I thinks it's fun) is the mozart oboe concerto (the battleax), which was once thought to be written for flute and much later discovered to have been a retreaded (by mozart himself to save time in fulfilling a commission) oboe concerto...lots of room for interpretative variation there too since the original manuscript no longer exists and anyone can speculate on which is the ideal version!
