I ran across this company on the Online Auction Site Who Must Not Be Named, and while I'm familiar with the idea of subliminal learning (which by the way has been thoroughly debunked by science and test results as an effective learning tool), this is the first time I'd encountered the concept as applied to learning a musical instrument. I'm not going to post a link, but I thought it was fascinating.
They have a "Learn EH through hypnosis" CD, too. Well, actually, they've got a CD for every musical instrument you could possibly want to learn, as well as foreign languages, weight loss and other self-improvement agendas, sports (bowling, poker, and golf, but no chess), hundreds of titles and topics. I got tired of scrolling through the catalog, but I'm sure there's more.
This is how the blurb says it works:
Quote:
This Hypnosis CDs take you through three steps:
Induction
The first part of the CD takes you through a relaxation process, which feels wonderful and allows your mind to be responsive to suggestions.
Suggestions
Once in the hypnotic state the next part of the CD contains suggestions designed to help you make changes in your life and reach your goals.
Taking Hold
The last part of this hypnosis CD allows you to relax and lets the suggestions further sink into your mind and take hold.
Hypnosis is a simple, safe and effective process geared to allow you to make changes to your life with ease and effectiveness.
# Automatic change.
# Easy to use, simply sit back relax and listen.
# Become the person you want to be.
# Guaranteed! Or your money back.
I'll take one xylophone, one tuba, and a side order of "how to write music", please.
And when I get done with that, I wanna learn to speak Navajo, and for dessert, the "Anti-Packrat/Clutter" CD...And then I want some great abs...
P.S. They've got one for Attention Deficit Disorder: it's titled "Paying Attention", as though all you needed to cure ADD was to instruct yourself to "pay attention".
