Each of the given reeds are from the same maker? I would think that
reeds from different makers might have varying sounds of brightness and
"darkness". Is that true?
Also you bring into the equation something I didn't think about, the audience.
Can they detect subtle differences in the relationship between the musician,
oboe, and reed? My guess, as you stated, is probably not, unless some
of the listeners have a trained ear for it.
Thanks for your input. You and everyone who responded to my question have
provided fine answers and explanations. I hope that more board users
will respond throughout the remainder of the evening.
