This topic has really helped me greatly. Thanks bunches and bunches.
I don't know why, but I still persist in the idea that a synthetic reed if properly refined and created would be so great; imagine getting one (if possible) that one could actually use and use and use and make gorgeous sounds and one wouldn't have to start a new reed every so many hours, but lasted for a long long time, like a few years and perhaps had a few to swap around with. I think it would be awesome. Personally, I wish that people would work on this concept. Imagine, as well, how popular oboes would become if this problem of making and making and making reeds (and the expense) would be resolved by a great synthetic replacement?
But I concur, it would have to be great.
It is just that I keep thinking about that reed that I used for clarinet ages ago that was synthetic and it was truly awesome.
I have no idea if those two men (creators of it) ever got off the ground with them or became a brand name, I don't know.
