The middle octave E is sensitive to the resonance key (open when playing low B flat) in the bell. If it is not tightly closed, the E will be foggy and sag. If it is not tight, then check to see if the bridge pieces between the bell and the middle joint are lined up correctly, and see if you have to back off the screw (there might be one on the bell just below the bridge piece, or you might have to look for a screw on the long rod on the left hand side of the middle joint, a little lower than the E flat key and back that screw off a bit).
