I can't see any problem of playing low oboe tunes on cor - some people think it shouldn't be done, but the extra resonance cors have soon makes them change their minds.
I just bought an old Cabart (pre-Loree) off eBay for a good price as I haven't got a back-up oboe, and this means I can use this one instead of my Howarth for doing outdoor concerts. All I need to do is fit a LH F lever, low B-C link, several adjusting screws here and there and a thumbplate - though the latter isn't all that important, but they're relatively easy to fit at any point in time. I probably won't fit a 3rd 8ve, but like thumbplates, these can be fitted at any point without any major surgery.
My (Marigaux) cor came with an Orly/Gewa/Fel double case, but I've got a hard case for my oboe set which offers a lot more protection, and the risk of forgetting to zip it closed is minimal, and it also has a safety buckle fitted which is pretty nifty.
Fortunately I haven't finished any XL cors for a while as it's difficult to part with them once I play test them. But I've resisted temptation so far - it's the XL d'amores that I need to steer clear from, otherwise my bank balance could suffer.
