Hhmmm...well this has happened with all of the same reeds (I buy them from the Nielsen Co.). It might be an incorrect overlap...but it seems to happen with all the reeds of the same color thread (i.e. by the same maker), perphaps I should try a different color??? It also seems to happen after a week or so with every reed...maybe it is something I am inadvertantly doing??? I have not hit the reed, or done anything to make it crack (to my knowledge ). I am too new to the oboe to begin making reeds, but am rapidly progressing. I have started to learn about adjusting reeds in my lessons at the university, but I don't have any first hand experience. I will try to take it to my professor and have him take a look at it, once he is available to set up a lesson time. It still plays fine...
Thanks for all the great suggestions!!!
