Is this when the reed is moist or dry? My reeds often take really weird shapes when they dry, especially if the tip is very thin and not perfectly uniform in thickness. If it still looks asymmetrical when wet, I would suspect an underlying crack that hasn't yet reached the outer surface of the reed.
