 Concertos

Many Composers wrote so many great concertos for oboe, but why did't some of the really good ones did not, such as beethoven, or Brahm. You would think Mendelssohn would have written something, he wrote compostions for everything. Why did't they write great concertos or solo sonatas for oboe?????????
