Hi Jazz,
Susan has some great advice here. I am a beginning player starting my third month and I own a Barrington 801 purchased from wwbw.com. It cost a mere $750 (including shipping) and it's been a great instrument so far. My teacher who plays principal for the San Antonio Symphony thinks highly of this instrument. I get the chills when he plays my instrument and it's nice to know such a good buy can sound so good, too. He says the sound "freaks him out...(sounds so good)" and says the bore is a "Yamaha knock off (he's complimenting it here)...." He said I did good with this purchase. Also, WWBW allows you 45 days to test out your instrument...if you don't like it, return it...piece of cake. I love this Barrington model and don't see myself outgrowing it for a long while.... Good luck to you! And you better get ready to be dedictated to learning this instrument. It takes practice, practice, and more practice. Oh, did I mention practice?
;-)
Jay
