What are these bits from tube cane?

I haven't been processing my own cane long and haven't seen much yet. What are these things found in some of the tubes from a new Loree batch? One tube with both ends blocked held at least 10. They look like plant matter, but many have a shiny inside reminiscent of a seashell and some have a sort of wormy outer appearance. Many have the same basic shape. I have not seen these in any other batch of cane (though I have sometimes seen what looks like a caterpillar or spider silk). Detritus from some former resident pest?

Have you burnt any of them to see if they melt or what they smell like?

No, burning them did not occur to me. I tossed them out with the waste cane but if I encounter more maybe I will try that.

I've always thought of them as "cane rocks."

Once I cut a tube that was FULL of them, from end to end!

(Sorry I can't answer your actual question, lol)
