I hadn't played EH for a couple of months and am starting play agin.
My older reeds, which played fine back in May, now, sound good for 5 minutes and then collapse, not able to vibrate.
Is it they have worn out (no, I did not scrape the backbone).
Guidance?

Yes, they're old and dead. Get new reeds.

Are the reeds wired? It may be that, upon drying for several months, have shrunk sufficiently that the wire has slipped down the cane and is no longer holding the reed open as it once was. Push the wire back up towards the tip and that may help open up the reed.

Thanks Mike,
No, the reeds are still well wired....they play fine for 5 minutes, then collapse. I was thinking it was age as Hotboy suggests....but hoping there was something I was missing
