I have seen the same thing in horn and tuba groups. My observation is that the advice of high level professionals (here) is perceived the same as advice from those who are struggling with the same technical problem, because the newbie needing help can't tell the difference, and those dealing with the same problem will parrot what their section mates say (who can't do it either) or what their band director said (who can't do it either.)
I've seen famous brass players dissed by high school kids, and yeah, they leave. I think people also tire of giving the same advice over and over, once again having 10 high school kids (this is the horn and the tuba group, not the oboe group) giving the same bad advice to the poor person asking the question, while the famous competent person giving wonderful advice, a free lesson over the internet, is basically drowned out.
