In case you see or may have seen the auction for a Loree bass/baritone oboe on a well known auction site, do not bid. It is absolutely a fake listing. I sold this exact instrument a couple of years ago, and the professional oboist owner still has it and plays it a lot. The "seller" for this auction lifted all of the photos and text from the auction I accomplished some years back. Any questions, please contact me.

They probably hope for payment in advance for an instrument that they don't have. The day after my English horn was stolen, cjwright saw an online ad for an English horn with the exact same serial number--out of China! I told the local cops this and they were unimpressed. I think they were familiar with the local criminal's modus and were pretty sure the instrument was still in town. Sure enough, they recovered it within two months. It never left the States, there was no Chinese connection--other than the Chinese connection that scooped up the serial number from this very BBoard when I reported the theft here.
