Hello All,
I currently play a Buffet Greenline oboe, it is about 3 months old, best oboe I have played... but there are a few issues... probably adjustments but I wonder if you might be able to help.
The Bb key seems to hit the B key (left hand pinky keys) when you use the left Eb key. I am assuming this is not normal because it did not do it when new. I have never dropped or banged the instrument at all (I baby it). Also it seems like the Bb hole is not being covered all the way when the Bb key is pressed (no low Bb half the time).
Also I was told that when you are playing a left Eb to Db (key of Ab) you can leave the left Eb down and play a normal Db. Is that right? It seems like my Db hole does not get closed all the way to play the Db. Is there are adjustment for that (we screwed the little Db hole key down all the way.
Finally just a reed question. I know sound quality is subjective but it seems that most of the pro oboe players I have played with have a rather bright sound. Is that really a function of the reed (i.e. harder or more vibrant)?
BTW my instructor had a baby so I have not seen her in 5 weeks... maybe the reason for all the questions. I am heading over to the shop tomarrow... I hope they can fix it... this is frusteralting!
