"So that means people buy Dupins without even trying them?
This is a huge vote of confidence!"
Yep, but the same goes for Hiniker(I believe). He have a waiting list, and the prices for new ones are not on the homepage. I just sent them an e-mail with som questions, I´ll keep you updated. I heard somone just payed NOK90 000,- for a new Imperial automatic("german" model). $15006.78 and €11342.16. An automatic is usually €1000,- more expensive than semiautomatic
I have never heard about a bad Dupin and I know a lot of people with both "classic" oboe and Cors + Imperial oboes and Cors. I have played 2 "boring" ones, but they were still better than all the Marigaux(901 and 2001) and Lorees(both Royal and 125) I have played.
The mechanics on my 17 year old are still really good, and the scale... SO even! the Marigaux 901 I owned before mye Dupin was also 17 year old when I sold it and the scale demanded so much adjustment. The F# and E was slightly flat and A to C was really sharp.
I use Roseau Chantant RC1 staples and a shaper from reeds´n stuff with "Oslo"-shape. tied to 74mm and cut 72 (tuning A:442) and what you call "short-scrape".
The two used Imperials for sale right now are priced to €7900,-
