is there a good volume of orchestral excerpts for oboe out there?

The Vade-Mecum of the Oboist is a great start.

I believe it is available at Forrest's Music in CA.

You might try for a used copy 1st... good luck.

The Ferillo Orchestral Excerpts book is what we use at ASU. It's quite comprehensive.

The three-volume set by Evelyn Rothwell ("Difficult Passages," p. Boosey & Hawkes) is a great resource as well, and also includes English horn excerpts.

I use to study Rothwell then recently Ferillo. Not much overlap there.
