If you didn't object to the range issue, you could play works for alto saxophone. Plenty of those around!

My favorite alto clarinet piece is the Divertissement by Bozza. It is a reworking of an English horn piece but it is very good on alto.
I have found a couple rather unique pieces from the Norwegian Music Service and used one of them in an audition. They are challenging pieces.

Try Allegro Spirituoso - J.B. Senaillé, arr for Eb alto clarinet or contrabass clarinet and piano by Harry Gee. Publisher Southern Music. A good range for the alto.

music is here. the hornpipe movment is in a bizare 3/2! never seen this before. the allergo is a very nice peice and challenging with over the break passages in 2 sharps! and 16sixtenth note runs. its a work out. this works is by johann galliard.
