 What is this?

A high school near by gave me this to repair. Linton, it uses a contra bass clarinet mouthpiece, the over all length of tubing is about 72" (around 6 feet ). There are two register keys, some sax fingering and some clarinet fingerings.
When I play lower register to higher, they are 12ths apart like a clarinet.
The two keys right above first finger L hand are like the throat A and G# keys. Most of the other keys work like a sax.
Playing starting low register all six fingers down (as if I were playing low G on a clarinet) starts with concert Bb. Going up as I take a finger off, C, D, E, F#, G#.
Going higher to second finger L hand is A, the throat keys will give me C and C#.

Upper register starting at the bottom F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#. Yes, intonation is all over the place. Lowest note is a G# (rather flat G# though).

I'll take a stab at it being in Eb, why would anyone combine sax and clarinet fingerings?

There's information about these here--just scroll down:

I got to check it out at Mr. Schultz's while getting some brass instruments serviced. He wanted about $3K for it; I did get to hold it and the action was very, very heavy. Wasn't tempted to give it a toot.

I wanted to attach several photos but just didn't have the time. The instrument pictured in your post is almost exactly what I have, the difference is the length, that one is a contra bass and the bell of the one I have is much shorter, like a contra alto.

It's probably a German-system contra alto clarinet (hence the sax-like fingerings.)

Probably an Orsi-made contra-alto clarinet. I have seen them in use in several Italian wind bands.

Sounds like they got the crook or upper body length wrong or you're using a smaller than intended mouthpiece, so the scale is all over the shop.
