Poulenc "Les Biches" Treble Clef Bass Clarinet Part?
Author: Chris P

The bass clarinet part for this is in bass clef and I find that very tough going, so is there a treble clef transcription of it anywhere? Preferably free to download. If not, then I'll have to rewrite it all out in treble clef.

How come some French composers (or was it the publishers) chose to write bass clarinet parts out in bass clef when that's usually the German way (and there are some Germans that write bass clarinet parts in treble clef).

Ok, I've gone and Sibeliusised a treble clef bass clarinet part for this (the five movement suite that is - not the entire work).

Should anyone reading this want a copy, then contact me through Facebook (you'll find my name in my profile) and provided you're running Sibelius 5 or higher, it should work. If not, then you'll have to talk me through how to convert it to a PDF whatnot thing as computers are definitely not my forte.

Chris, if you'd like to conquer the bass clef eventually, an easy orchestral bass clarinet part to start with would be Franck's Symphony in D. Just a thought.

I played that in a previous season and used a treble clef transcription that was emailed to me from another board member:
