 Gennusa mouthpiece facing

Greetings.

I bought a Gennusa GE mouthpiece a couple of years ago so I could keep my old one as a spare. Seeing as it was paid by a 3rd party, I was not able to do any sort of a trial before I bought it. When I play on this MP, it gives me the same feeling I get when playing on an unbalanced reed (better response on one side than the other). Looking at the MP I noticed that the window is off to one side by quite a bit. The smaller rail is on the right, and it plays better on the left.

Would having a resurfacer even out the rails and therefore widening the window fix the response problem? What impact would that have on intonation, projection, etc.

So does anyone know of anyone who does resurfacing in the Twin Cities? I had even considered going to Brannen via bus and having them work on it, but I would call first.

Or am I better off doing a trial and buying a new mouthpiece? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what this means, but is there a reason why the vendor's return policy isn't still in effect? You'd be within your rights to return it as defective and ask for a replacement.

I play Gennusa...a Vintage GE star and a new GE Excellente (purchased from Ben Redwine who took over the Gennusa mouthpiece brand). One thing I have found is that Vandoren Blue Box reeds (I'm not sure what brand you use) are not a good match for the Gennusa facing, however I LOVE the Gonzalez Regular cut with Gennusa. So, it is possible that the brand of reed you are using is not a good match to the mouthpiece.

If you truly feel that the mouthpiece is defective there are several great refacers you can contact for a consultation on your mouthpiece (Brad Behn is great even long distance). Perhaps reach out to Ben Redwine regarding this issue even though the mouthpiece was purchased via a third party. Vendors usually want to keep a good reputation for their brands! http://www.rjmusicgroup.com/

I also think it would be a good idea to contact Ben Redwine. I don't know him personally, but was in contact with him a few years ago when I bought a GE*. He left me with a very positive impression.
