I currently play on a Rico reed that is strength 3 (i know they are crappy reeds, but i cant afford better ones haha) and I want to buy a Fibracell Premier reed. I've looked at reed charts and some say I should get a strength 3, others say I should get 1.5 or a 2. What strength is equal to the reed I have now?

I have not had much luck with Fibracell for soprano clarinet, though I like the sound on bass clarinet. Unfortunately the soprano Fibracell plays too thin and edgy particularly in the upper registers.
I might recommend instead to just 'bump up' to the Legere and try either the "Quebec" cut or "Standard" cut at 1/4 strength lower. In your case that would be a 2.75 strength Legere.

Thanks for the reply Paul. I'll be sure to try the Legere reeds.
I'm still going to try the Fibracell reeds just in case I dont like Legere. Do you think a Fribacell 2.5 would be equal to a regular Rico 3?

I had tried them LONG ago and don't recall exactly what strength at which I abandoned that project, though I would start off with a 'one-to-one' ratio with the Fibracell because the tips of those reeds are more "flaccid."
Perhaps someone with some more current Bb Fibracell experience can chime in. Also, the "Premium" may be newer and a more improved version of what I knew.

A Fibracell Premier 2.5 will be close to a Rico 3, in my experience.
If you find the Fibracells work for you, I strongly suggest getting at least one more identical Fibracell and rotate your Fibracells during long playing sessions. They do tend to soften up as you play them--you don't want to find yourself stuck playing horribly flat with a unusably soft reed.
The Premieres are more cane-like in sound than the older Fibracells but retain most of the response and tuning quirks. Make absolutely sure your altissimo register is dependably responsive AND up to pitch before committing to these reeds.
