 teflon coating for chalumeau tube

Dear friends,
As I know that there are engineer and chemist-clarinetists out there, what do you think of the possibility of a teflon coating in the chalumeau tube to keep the water from mounting up there and to keep the tube clean as a whistle? Would this be feasible?

Just because something is non-stick doesn't necessarily mean it will stay clean. Although, maybe it would be easier to clean when it gets dirty.

Teflon wouldn't be ideal--how would you get it to stick to the tube in the first place? You could try applying a hydrophobic coating though. Auto supply stores sell stuff to coat mirrors that is superhydrophobic. Look up "Glaco mirror coat zero" to get an idea.

How thick would the coating be? Enough to change the venting characteristics of the tube?

I've had good results with applying a silicone spray with a cotton bud to holes that are prone to collecting water.

Thank you all for your excellent suggestions and also for your reservations. The inside diameter of the chalumeau tube would have to be proportionately adjusted to remain standard after the teflon coating. The reason I thought of teflon rather than chemical products is that it would be applied once and for all. The toxicity of chemical substances is also something that must be taken into account. As to how we would get the teflon to stick to the metal inside the tube, that is the question. It might just well be impossible, but they get it to stick to the metal of a frying pan.

What do you mean by "chalumeau tube"? Is it the register vent tube, the metal insert for the left thumb hole or something else?

OK but not needed. Can readily be cleaned with a pipe cleaner. I still have my original pack, bought many years ago. Tobacconists sell them.

The raised register tube on my Leblanc Symphonie does the trick.
