What is your favorite Artie Shaw story
Author: Clarineteer
Date:   2012-11-22 20:58

Marian McPartland asked Artie Shaw to be on her weekly show and she went to his house to tape it. She said that there was a high gate with large columns on each side and a high wall around his entire property. She rang the bell at the gate entrance and immediately heard a group of mean sounding large dogs barking very loudly. She was then granted entrance to his driveway leading up to the house and when she knocked on the front door Artie answered and she entered the house. She immediately said where are those mean sounding dogs and he smiled and said that was a recording designed to keep intruders away.
