In short, i have the hardest time switching from middle B to C sharp. For one, i can't do it fast enough. Also, when I have to play the two notes consecutively quickly say during a fast scale, my air often gets "stuck", where although i'm still blowing, instead of the note, i get a faint, undertonish sound. I was just wondering if anyone had some insight on this. Thanks.

What are "middle" B and C#? Are you talking about B4 and C#5 (check the key next to the BBoard banner - 3rd line and space on the treble staff) or "middle C" on the grand staff - C4 and B3 - one leger line below the treble staff?

Is it the B that's causing you the most grief? If that note packs up when you play it with the LH or RH E/B key only, then the crow's foot could be out of regulation so the F/C pad isn't closing fully along with the E/B pad which will result in poor response on the B.

My bet: it is your left hand ring finger losing seal when you involve the pinky to play the c5#. I'd guess the problem is worse (like it is for me) when you have to go a4-b4-c5#, particularly at speed.
When I position my hands normally, my left pinky is naturally (and nicely) hovering over the c5# so no problem. When I play a4, the slight hand roll moves my left pinky in closer to the ring finger - then when I go all down to b4, my pinky is in a different position, higher than normal. So then, when I go for c5#, the pinky has to move down, and that makes the ring finger sort of roll which sometimes (mostly) loses it's seal, and out pops an a5#. Not good.
Driving me nuts.
Guess I've got some torturously slow Philip-Glass-ish muscle reprogramming exercises in my future. ugh

There is no ROLLING!!!! Your finger kinda looks like it's rolling, but you're just moving it up slightly, NOT affecting wrist, hand, or finger positions.
THIS IS MY PET PEEVE OVER THE TERM ROLL
As for "Rapidclif"
I'd say that maybe you are thinking that one pinky has to go up while the other goes down. This is not so. Just depress the C# (whether you do the B on left or right should only be a matter of which note you came from or which note is coming after the C#).

Ok perhaps I should amend my advice on the C# thingy to say, it is not as critical to move off the B immediately since the tuning is close. So you can just think about getting the other pinky on the C# before the other pinky HAS to move off the B.

my wrist/hand definitely rolls for a4. Not alot bit it does roll. Only word to use. My teacher hasn't said anything was wrong, but it may be she hasn't noticed what I'm doing, which is sad. Anyway, I'm keen to try out what you're saying - it sounds like it would make a big difference: a4 only moving the index finger. More re-learning ... double ugh.
