That's pretty cool.......but

It would be nice to have a slot for the name of the note above or underneath.

Also, can this set up a series of fingerings in a row to show a certain preferred pattern for a certain scale or passage.

Yeah I know, I'm ungrateful. But let's have this technology go all the way! I guess what I am saying is that if we have a digital fingering chart there is room then to have pattern groups which NO static chart could ever hope to do!

The availability for a wide range of instruments and its current features make it a great tool for contemporary composers wishing to make use of multiphonics and other extended techniques.

Hi, I'm the creator/programmer of the Fingering Diagram Builder, chiming in to address Paul's questions about adding text or assembling the diagrams into fingering charts showing multiple fingerings.

These are not currently features of the FDB, nor will they be in the foreseeable future--it's strictly a tool for creating individual diagrams.

(If anyone cares, my decision not to add these features is because the scope would be unmanageable, at least for me--the needs of individual users would take me down the road of programming an entire word processor or something to handle people's many text and page layout requirements/demands.)

If you would like some ideas about creating fingering charts, adding notes/text etc., here are a few to get you started: https://bretpimentel.com/creating-fingering-charts-with-diagrams-from-the-fingering-diagram-builder/

Best,
Bret

Thank you Bret for your kind response and consideration!

I think that would be a WONDERFUL idea for one of you younger, programmy types to tackle in your free time. It can be something that could be a handy "APP" any student could pull up on their phone for a certain.....situation.......as well as providing the standard set of static suggestions for a specific note.

THINK ABOUT THAT GALS AND GUYS !!!!!

Hi Brett, I’ve used your tool for a while now, and love it. It’s a great resource - thank you for creating and sharing it freely. I pretty much do as you describe using tables in Word if I need to make a chart.
Cheers
Colin
