Hey Richard,
I was looking through this threat because my search for a nice sounding (through all the registers) ligature is still continuing. My current fallback is my free gift metal one, kinda giving the idea what I have been playing with.
Personally I feel a ligature shouldn't have to be expensive, never the less I tried many, cheaper and more expansive once. At one point I fell in love to the nice crisp sound from the (way to expensive) yany sixs ligature. So I decided to treat myself and ordered myself one. When I recieved it, I was throughly disapponted and decided to send it back. So the search continued as I said and I started looking into the Bambu ligatures. Thanks to Paul's mentioning of these, I ended up in this thread, where you made your Velcro comment.. and a little lightbulb turned on!
TL;DR
I have a huge stack of LIDL Parkside double sided velcro cable ties (20x200), totally synthetic ofcourse, so no stretch and desided to try one out. I have been trying it for the lost half hour and as for now I can honoustly say it is the best sounding one I tried so far.
Crips, similarly over the entire register, even the higher notes are easier for me (something I was strugling with).
It is as a little flexible ring now so easy slide on and off and I have a cap that sort of fits. Additional benefit.. nearly free and if it would stretch overtime, I loose it or decide I want a different colour. There are plenty more where this one came from. So thank you so much for this comment!
Detail, the right length determination took a while but that is just a slight bump.
Kind greats
Matthieu
