Ok, so looking at the Yamaha clarinet website I found no mention of the type of pads until you get up to the 255, which mentions Valentino pads. However, they do not say which ones. I would assume the "greenbacks" then.
The 650 mentions the Lucien Deluxe Pads. These are pretty good when new but if they still have the plastic button in the middle, the skin can (and will) fail around the button after about a year of steady play, causing leaks that are HARD to diagnose!
Then I see the Custom line speak of leather pads (definitely NOT Valentino).
So........the 255 and 450s
