That sound's like a terrible deal to be honest. Even if it's as good as a Ridenour, you're eventually paying $2600 for a low Eb bass clarinet. It may seem like a good idea to rent to own because it's cheaper up front, but regardless of whether you pay now or later you're still going to be out $2000+. Unfortunately many music stores do this to prey on lower income students who can't afford to buy.
I would return the bass, find a nice cheap refurbished Bundy or Yamaha and start a savings account for the bass you really want. When you're ready to buy a new bass you can sell your old bass for a good portion of what you paid for it. No sense in overpaying by over a thousand dollars for a Chinese instrument. Check eBay and Reverb regularly for refurbished basses. If you're patient you can even find instruments for under $500.
