I wanted a Ridenour or Kessler low C to jam on in my studio but couldn't come up with the $2k+ or qualify for financing, so I stumbled upon IQ Instrument Rentals in Philly. A doc named Terry runs the company that offers rentals of a variety of instruments. I got a low Eb no-name Chinese bass for $65/month rent to own (40 months) cancel anytime with a $100 refundable deposit. It's a two piece body that's kind of weird to put together and is easy to play. I put a vintage Selmer "A" refaced mouthpiece with a 2 1/2 reed and it's OK...I played a Selmer 33 in Rome 15 years ago and my orchestra days are behind me (corona put the screws to all of that here in the USA)...so it's me in the studio now with all my toys, including my long-lost bass clarinet.
Anyone ever heard of this company or played this horn? Thanks. The service is very good.
