Has anyone tried a German facing on a French-style E flat Boehm mouthpiece?
Or even know where such a beast could be found!?
On my Reform Boehms (Bb &A), I am more than happy with several German mouthpieces with tip opening about 0.95mm and length of about 24/25mm.
I have a Yamaha YCL-681 Eb which tunes well with a Vandoren B40 Eb mouthpiece, but the different style of blowing to my reform Bb mouthpieces puts me off any serious efforts on E flat.
I am not sure I could justify the cost and multi-year wait for a new Reform Eb instrument.
Of course, there are plenty of other musicians who say that reducing the Eb clarinettist population is no bad thing - I'd like to prove them wrong!
